Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary have joined with the West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce to host the first fan club celebration of life for Haideh on Sunday, April 29, from 1-3 p.m.
Haideh was an iconic Iranian singer of Persian classical and pop music and is buried in Westwood Village Memorial Park. The event is designed to remember the artist, who would have been 76 years old on April 10. She passed away from a heart attack at the age of 48 in January 1990.
Considered one of the most popular singers of 20^th century Iran, Haideh catapulted to fame when she proved adept at singing music with dramatic flair and captivated audiences by performing popular songs with her operatic range.The Islamic revolution of 1979 forced her into exile and she moved to the United States and made Los Angeles her home, where she lived until her death.
Haideh's albums are still bestsellers and her songs are still played on Iranian TV and radio channels. Her extraordinary operatic voice and range continue to enchant generations of Iranians and Farsi-speaking people all over the world.
